Things to Do & About Santa Fe

About Santa Fe

Santa Fe has charmed visitors since the early sixteenth century and has been a vibrant home to Pueblo Indians for more than a thousand years. Northern New Mexico offers a rich mix of natural and cultural experiences — nearby Indian Pueblos, national and state parks, archeological ruins, mountain peaks, canyons, lakes, deserts, world-class galleries and restaurants, and exceptional hotels, spas, and bed & breakfasts.

Santa Fe’s performing arts encompass dance, theater, opera, choral, and chamber music. Many attendees choose to arrive early or stay through the weekend to enjoy the full “Land of Enchantment” experience.

Recommendation: Santa Fe is a popular summer destination. We encourage you to make travel and lodging reservations early.

The Santa Fe Opera and Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival

Every July and August since 1957, opera lovers have been drawn to the northern New Mexico mountains to enjoy productions by one of America’s premier summer opera festivals. The demand for tickets for both the Opera and the Chamber Music Festival is extremely high; ticket requests should be made as early as possible.
